Protein Description:Partial

Tag Info:Tag-Free

Mol. Weight:19.8 kDa

Biological_Activity:Fully biologically active when compared to standard. The ED50 as determined by inducing alkaline phosphatase production of murine C3H10T1/2 cells is 0.5 - 1.0 ?g/ml.

Purity:>95% as determined by SDS-PAGE and HPLC.

Endotoxin:Less than 1.0 EU/µg as determined by LAL method.

Form:Lyophilized powder

Buffer:Lyophilized from a 0.2 µm filtered 20 mM PB, pH 7.4, 150mM NaCl

Reconstitution:We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Please reconstitute protein in deionized sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL.We recommend to add 5-50% of glycerol (final concentration) and aliquot for long-term storage at -20?/-80?. Our default final concentration of glycerol is 50%. Customers could use it as reference.

Notes:Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. Store working aliquots at 4? for up to one week.

Alternative Name/ Alias:SHH, ,; Sonic hedgehog protein C-product Sonic hedgehog protein 27 kDa product,],

Relevance:Intercellular signal essential for a variety of patterning events during development: signal produced by the notochord that induces ventral cell fate in the neural tube and somites, and the polarizing signal for patterning of the anterior-posterior axis of the developing limb bud. Displays both floor plate- and motor neuron-inducing activity. The threshold concentration of N-product required for motor neuron induction is 5-fold lower than that required for floor plate induction. Activates the transcription of target genes by interacting with its receptor PTCH1 to prevent normal inhibition by PTCH1 on the constitutive signaling activity of SMO. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:14687547, ECO:0000269|PubMed:7736596}.

Function:Sonic hedgehog protein

Involvement in disease:

Subcellular Location:Sonic hedgehog protein N-product: Cell membrane, Lipid-anchor

Protein Families:Hedgehog family

Tissue Specificity:Expressed in a number of embryonic tissues including the notochord, ventral neural tube, floor plate, lung bud, zone of polarizing activity and posterior distal mesenchyme of limbs. In the adult, expressed in lung and neural retina.
