Background:Haptoglobin is a 406 aminoacids (aa) protein that in humans is encoded by the HP gene. This gene encodes a preproprotein that is processed into alpha (aa 19-160) and beta (aa 162-406) chains that combine as a tetramer to produce haptoglobin. Haptoglobin captures, and combines with free plasma hemoglobin to allow hepatic recycling of heme iron and to prevent kidney damage.
Concentration:
Activity:Not validated for activity
Sequence:Ala 118-Cys 281
Purity: > 95% as determined by reducing SDS-PAGE.
Formulation:Lyophilized from sterile PBS, pH 7.4.
Normally 5%-8% trehalose, mannitol and 0.01% Tween 80 are added as protectants before lyophilization.
Please refer to the specific buffer information in the printed manual.
Reconstitution:It is recommended that sterile water be added to the vial to prepare a stock solution of 0.5 mg/mL. Concentration is measured by UV-Vis.
Endotoxin:< 10 EU/mg of the protein as determined by the LAL method.
Calculated MW:17.9 kDa
ObservedMW:22 kDa
