Background:Catalyzes the oxidative NADPH-dependent deiodination of monoiodotyrosine(L-MIT) or diiodotyrosine(L-DIT). Acts during the hydrolysis of thyroglobulin to liberate iodide, which can then reenter the hormone-producing pathways. Acts more efficiently on monoiodotyrosine than on diiodotyrosine.
