Description:mAb158 is a monoclonal antibody that selectively targets soluble Aβ protofibrils, a highly toxic aggregate species implicated in Alzheimer’s disease. It forms antibody–Aβ complexes that are more efficiently cleared and prevent the intracellular accumulation of Aβ in astrocytes, a cell type known to store rather than degrade protofibrils. By reducing protofibril load, mAb158 also protects neurons from Aβ-induced cell death, highlighting its ability to counteract secondary neurotoxicity mediated by astrocytes.
