Collection: Reverse Transcription

Reverse transcription is the process of converting RNA back to DNA. Since PCR and many other amplification technologies work on DNA substrates, RNA must be reverse transcribed to cDNA. In reverse transcription, RNA is first bound by a primer, which is then extended in the presence of nucleotide triphosphates (dNTPs), in a reaction that is catalyzed by reverse transcriptase. Products include RT-qPCR kits, with one step or Q select options.
