Specifically converts dihydrotestosterone to its inactive form 5alpha-androstanediol, that does not bind androgen receptor\/AR. Also converts androstanedione, a precursor of testosterone and estrone, to epiandrosterone (PubMed:1401999, PubMed:2139411).
