After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for ACTC1 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of ACTC1 bound in the initial step. Each actin can bind to four others.\nThe protein encoded by this gene belongs to the actin family which is composed of three main groups of actin isoforms, alpha, beta, and gamma. The alpha actins are found in muscle tissues and are a major constituent of the contractile apparatus.
