It is mapped to 10q25.1. This gene encodes the alpha chain of type XVII collagen. Unlike most collagens, collagen XVII is a transmembrane protein. Collagen XVII is a structural component of hemidesmosomes, multiprotein complexes at the dermal-epidermal basement membrane zone that mediate adhesion of keratinocytes to the underlying membrane. Mutations in this gene are associated with both generalized atrophic benign and junctional epidermolysis bullosa. Two homotrimeric forms of type XVII collagen exist. The full length form is the transmembrane protein. A soluble form, referred to as either ectodomain or LAD-1, is generated by proteolytic processing of the full length form.

Immunogen: A synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence at the C-terminus of human Collagen XVII/COL17A1, which shares 83.3% and 91.3% amino acid (aa) sequence identity with mouse and rat Collagen XVII/COL17A1, respectively.

Clonality: Polyclonal

Contents: Each vial contains 4mg Trehalose, 0.9mg NaCl, 0.2mg Na2HPO4, 0.05mg NaN3.

Purification: Immunogen affinity purified.

Reconstitution: Adding 0.2 ml of distilled water will yield a concentration of 500 μg/ml.

Reference: 1.
